DORS COURSE 2:


Leadership, management & finances for the Racquets Leader

Build on your Course #1 foundation and tackle this advanced course for racquet sports professionals around financial planning, people management, and strategic and personal leadership skills.

All students receive 1-1 learning sessions with industry experts Doug Cash & Ajay Pant.

Successful completion of Course #2 is the ticket to the coveted industry recognition of “Certified Director of Racquet Sports.”

Must have completed Course #1, have 5 years of industry/work experience and a leadership reference to apply.

  • Understand business structures, governance, facility types, and complete a self-assessment of leadership readiness.

  • Deep dive into sports like pickleball, padel, platform tennis, and more—including history, integration strategies, and trends.

  • Cover safety, SOPs, court surfaces, winter structures, lighting, and managing profitable retail.

  • Learn marketing funnels, digital promotions, event strategy, and sales principles tailored for racquets.

  • Measure and monitor customer sentiment, build seasonal schedules, and peak programming that increases retention.

Course #2:

Leadership, Management & FinanceS for the Racquets Leader

USTA SafePlay; Completion of Course #1, 5+ Years Industry/Work Experience; leadership recommendation

Frequently asked questions

  • All courses are “open all of the time.” with no semester start or admission dates. DORS Course #2, however, does, require an admissions process.

  • Courses range from 2-5 months for completion, though all are “sefl-paced,” which means there are no assignment deadlines. Each student completes assignments at their own pace.If the course time limit is exceeded, an extension may be purchased, but with 2-4 hours per week dedicated to course work, completion within the time limit should not be any challenge..

  • Yes and no.

    No experience is required at all for Personal Brand Management - it will help you land your first position.

    For DORS Course #1, 1 year of industry week is recommended but not required.

    For DORS. Course #2, 5 years of industry experience or general full-time work experience is required and some leadership experience is preferred, though it is not required.

  • UF doesn’t certify; it educates.

    Each student will received a Certificate of Completion for each course successfully completed.

    For organizations that required CEU’s. that certificate of completion can be presented for credit.

    For students desiring the status of Certified Director of Racquet Sports, the completion certificate for DORS Course #2 should be presented.

  • Personal Brand Management is taught by Kim Bastable and Len Simard, with help from Len’s team at KKandW.

    For DORS Course #1; Kim Bastable is the lead instructor.

    For DORS Course #2, Ajay Pant and Doug Cash are lead instructors..

  • No! But you might want to!

    The Personal Brand Management course is for anyone seeking a new position and who wants to update their resume and networking skills.

    DORS Course 1 is for anyone and everyone in the industry, because every employee of a racquets business or facility can and should be helping the business grow.

    DORS Course #2 is for those individuals who seek to know the finer points of leadership and finance.

    DORS Course #2 requires that DORS course #1 be completed first, but that is the only “per-requisite” requirement.

  • No.

    You can take it first; take it at the same time as DORS Course #1 or #2 OR not take it at all.

  • Feedback from 4 year has told us a few things so we are adjusting. The goals with change are:

    • provide more education with no application process

    • provide specific education to all on resume writing and interviewing skills

    • provide shorter format course work for a quicker finish time

    DORS Certificate course content has been updated slightly, but most of our change is to streamline delivery.

    Our Net Promote Score over 4 years is exceptional at an 85, (above 80 is considered “world class”) so there was no need to change much!

  • For “Personal Brand Management” and “DORS Course #1”, you will buy them and begin.

    DORS Course #2 does have an application procedure.

    Interested students will be asked to upload a resume, verification of USTA SafePlay, and the name and contact information of a leadership reference. Students will need to show 5 years of work experience and completion of DORS Course #1, as well.

  • These courses are all self-paced and can be done anytime - with no in-person coursework; only personally scheduled zoom calls with course instructors

    Each course is created with content that takes a certain number of hours to complete. . It’s estimated to take the following amount of hours to complete:

    • Personal Brand Management - 10-12 hours total work

    • DORS Course #1 - 40-45 hours of total work

    • DORS Course #2 - 40-45 hours of total work.

    We recommend that each student set aside on their calendar two study periods weekly, of 2 hours each to stay on track, but many students also choose to work very hard and complete quickly. It’s really up to you!
